Urbanspace.asia, HONG KONG - Is there a "House of God" in Hong Kong?, an important question,
especially for Muslims who want to travel to this country. Why not, this place
is the most important vital necessity besides tourist attractions.
Searching
for the “House of God” in Hong Kong wasn't as difficult as feared. After
enjoying a halal menu at an Indonesian restaurant in Kowloon, Hong Kong that
afternoon, November 1 2017, the bus I was on dropped off and then stopped not
far from a mosque. The sound of the call to prayer had just sounded when I got
off the bus towards this house of God whose nameplate could be seen saying
"Islamic Center Kowloon".
The
Kowloon Mosque is familiarly called the Kowloon Islamic Center, which is one of
the main mosques in Hong Kong. This mosque is located on the corner between
Nathan Street and Haiphong Street, and next to it is Kowloon Park. It is in
this mosque that I perform the Dhuhur prayer.
At the
Kowloon mosque there are three prayer rooms and a meeting room. There is even a
medical clinic and library.
